Palouse Fiber Festival

I was lucky enough to help put on the second Palouse Fiber Arts Festival this last weekend in Moscow, Idaho.  Shelley, from The Yarn Underground, is a visionary and astounding human being.  The festival turned out to be a wonderful success between our amazing vendors, students, teachers, and volunteers.

We were fortunate to host teachers Esther Rodgers, Sarah Swett, Beth Smith, Lynn Ruggles, Amelia Garripoli, and Mary Scott Huff.  These wonderful teachers created inspiring classes from spinning to weaving and knitting.

Vendors of the event were spectacular! Ed and Wanda Jenkins of Jenkins Yarn Tools featured the most incredibly hand made Turkish drop spindles made out of a variety of wood and even a few bone.  I made it out with two! One Swan, made from marblewood and one Aegean, made from carob.  Ed ended the second night of the festival with a heartwarming talk on loving the life you live.

I purchased a beautiful pound and a half of washed Jacobs fleece from Benny Fibers, although I wanted to get more! This fleece will be my next from fiber to sweater project...more to come on that!

My other purchase from the weekend was an incredible Texel cross sheep skin from Farm Girl Products.  I have been searching for one, at a reasonable price and a local source, for a number of years and was so excited to find it at her stall!

The other amazing vendors included: Snowdrift Alpaca, Wool-n-Hooves, Stone Cottage Pottery, Greensleeves Spindles, Greenwood Fiberworks, Shooting Yarn, and Calico Farms Fiber Art.

The fiber festival was a whirlwind, a ton of work, and most of all a wonderful experience.  We will hopefully look forward to another in 2018!

Sorry about the delay in posting about the awesome fiber festival. I have been moving into the main floor of  this beauty.
