Alen Shell
The Alen Shell is available for free download here until August 3rd.
Made using Palouse Yarn Company’s beautiful, hand dyed cashmere squeeze. This shell is based on the Art Deco architecture of William Van Alen.
It is knitted from the bottom up, in the round, then separated for the arms. The lace detail continues past the side markers and stops once you separate for the arms. This makes it briefly wrap around the back.
The shoulders are Kitchener stitched together to create a seamless appearance. The collar and sleeves are picked up and worked in the round.
The back has a pleat right before you bind off for the neckline. You pleat using a cable needle and k2tog stitches from the cable needle and the left needle. The box pleat it a 16 st decrease.
I really hope everyone enjoys this simple, yet entertaining pattern. Its perfect for all seasons!
